Site progress:

As you are probably aware, we have experienced a very wet start to the year early on, this has made things challenging and has tested our resolve to keep things moving. This aside we are on programme with the first of the steel structure to be installed very shortly. Work continues with the foundations ready for the next phase of Steel work. You will rapidly begin to see the building take shape over the coming months as we move out of the sub structure into the superstructure phase of the build. Bridge Engineering-who are based locally in Chudleigh-have worked with admirable professionalism keeping the site tidy and safe for the site community. With stringent rules for non-contact working, social distancing and exceptional hygiene measures due to the Covid 19 pandemic we will continue to look after our workers and the wider community

UP AND COMING THINGS TO LOOK OUT FOR

On the 15th June 2020 will see the steel frame arrive on site. This will be delivered in stages with the first 3 levels assembled in eight short weeks. If you have an interest in assembly of big structures you can watch progress from Rydon Lane with the backdrop of Haldon Hill and the M5 - exciting stuff!

For the community

As contributors to the Considerate Constructors Scheme and to meet environmental targets there are certain obligations that we have to meet. Health Safety and Wellbeing are extremely important to all who work on the Sandy Park Hotel project, so let us share what we are doing for the staff onsite and local community.

• We will be employing almost 200 trade and management jobs with at least 65% of roles sourced from the local community. Where possible we are using the local supply chain for materials and services and this in turn will invest in the local community shops.

• We will provide awareness and support about topical issues with a focus this period on Mental Health.

• We currently provide a safe environment for all our staff working within HSE and Government COVID-19 recommendations.

• We will be engaging with local schools and colleges to open our doors and assist in Career advice. A key aspiration for Construction as a whole is to see more females in the Construction and Engineering environment.
